Butler County Family Suffers Double Tragedy in Same Night

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that, on April 3rd 2014 at approximately 8:25 pm, a ten-year old boy was riding his bike on Sample Road in Reily Township when he was struck by a vehicle.

The boy was transported to Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati with reportedly severe head trauma. The crash is still under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit.

Approximately five hours later, at approximately 1:30 am, Butler County dispatchers received a call reporting a fire on Sample Road. When units arrived in the area it was discovered that the fire location was 1575 Sample Road, home of the family whose ten-year old boy was involved in the vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

The residence was reported to have heavy fire damage. Several fire departments provided mutual aid to assist the Reily Township Fire Department. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office made contact with family members, who were at the hospital with their son, to advise them of the fire.
