Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Investigators from the Sheriff’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) have released some update information on yesterday’s fatal, single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Wayne Township.

Around 4:00 pm May 1, deputies along with the Wayne Township Fire Department responded to the 4500 block of Waynes Trace Road for a report of a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, deputies found that a 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer was traveling south on Waynes Trace Road when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole. The driver, Toby M. Weber, age 19, believed to have resided on Waynes Trace Road, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but speed is being considered at least one factor. The START team and the Butler County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
