Butler County Corporal Investigated For Crash and OVI

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that at approximately 9:40 pm on Sunday, September 21, 2014, Hamilton City Police Department responded to the area of 227 North B Street for a traffic accident with injuries. The City of Hamilton’s preliminary investigation shows that Deputy Corporal Rob Reiff, a 19 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office failed to control his personal vehicle while off-duty and struck a parked car. Corporal Reiff did have visible injuries to his face and was transported to West Chester Hospital by squad. Corporal Reiff was cited for failure to control and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Both charges are misdemeanors. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office handled the internal investigation in this matter. The Sheriff reported that effective immediately, Corporal Reiff is being placed on a six week unpaid suspension from his duties at the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
