Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that last night at approximately 7 PM, S.T.A.R.T (Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team) along with Liberty Township emergency crews responded to the intersection of Hamilton Middletown Road and Princeton Glendale Road in Liberty Township for an accident involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the pedestrian, Duane Mielke, a 73 year old male from Iowa, was crossing Hamilton Middletown Road and was not in a crosswalk. He was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver of the car, Jeremy Rush from Monroe Ohio, did not sustain injuries and was not transported to the hospital.  Mr. Mielke was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by S.T.A.R.T. Charges have not been filed at this time.
