Major William M. Stump


Major William M. Stump entered the United States Army in 1983, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1986. Some of his responsibilities while stationed in Washington D.C. included working at the White House, Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Major Stump participated in President Reagan and Vice President Bush’s second Inauguration Ceremony.

Major Stump began his Law Enforcement career in 1988 at the Lebanon Correctional Institution as a correctional officer. He has been employed with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office since 1994. Major Stump was assigned to the Road Patrol Division until 1999; After completing Traffic Accident Investigation’s Levels I, II, III, and IV (Traffic Accident Reconstruction) taught by the University of Florida. He was transferred to the Traffic Investigation Unit where he investigated vehicular homicide/fatality accidents, serious injury accidents, and hit-skip accidents.

In January 2005, Major Stump was promoted to the rank of Captain and assumed the responsibilities as the Warden which included overseeing all the county jails for the Sheriff’s Office.

In August 2006, Major Stump was promoted to the rank of Major where he currently oversees the entire Corrections Division, Administrative Services Unit, Support Services Unit, Court Services Unit, Civil Unit, and Sheriff’s Sales/Foreclosure Unit.

Major Stump is a graduate of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College with a G.P.A. of 4.00.
