The
Butler County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Investigations Unit, commonly referred
to as the Youth Aid Bureau, is responsible for investigating crimes committed by
juveniles, or in which juveniles are victims. “Juvenile Crime” does not just
mean “Kid Crime”. Youth Aid Investigators have handled cases where juveniles
have committed aggravated burglary, felonious assault, drug abuse, rape and just
about every other type of “Adult Crime”, as well as handling the simple unruly
child cases.
The Youth Aid Investigators are dealing with more and more juvenile victims of “Child Abuse”. This abuse can come in many forms: neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse and sexual abuse. These Investigators not only deal with the criminal element , but also with the social elements as well.
In the year 2008, the Investigations Unit handled cases. Out of the 4071 cases, 724 reports had Juveniles as suspects with around 289 Juvenile Arrests.
