Sheriff Jones, I just heard you on Willy's show and you supplied the first ray of hope I've had in quite awhile. Your position on illegals is laudable and brave and it is vital that men and women everywhere have the backbone to withstand the onslaught of PC lunacy that is destroying this country. Whatever you run for, whatever you do, I'm voting for you. Keep my email to solicit me for grunt work in whatever campaigns you wage.
I heard Sheriff Jones on WLW today! I'm proud that someone like Sheriff Jones is in the State of Ohio! Keep it up sir! You make us proud!
Thank You Sheriff Jones for your "get tough stance" on illegal immigration. It's been a long time coming.
I feel that the Sheriff and the department merit praise for having the fortitude to attach a "politically correct issue". Illegal immigration is and has been a sleeping catastrophe. It might be of interest to you that one county in the State of Idaho has attacked the problem in a different way. They are suing any business in their county under the federal RICO statute and if sucessful they will get triple damages. This would not only put a damper on employment of illegal aliens but would reward the Shefiffs department and other county departments will millions of dollars. Why not persue this? It would sure be nice to get the extra money and get rid of the illegal aliens. Keep up the good work.
I support you in the crackdown on the undocumented immigrant problem we have in this country. I salute you for having the courage to stand up for what it right in this "politically correct" society of ours.
Sheriff Jones, as a former Deputy of Portage County, and as a citizen, I want to thank you for your stand on illegal aliens. These aliens are the main concern of the citizens of this great county. Howeve, our elected officals fail to address this problem. Than God that we have people like you that are willing to make a stand.
Sheriff Jones, We received an article from the Daytona Daily News regarding your efforts to rid your county of illegal aliens. You have our applause and we wish you great success. Finally, someone has the guts and courage to do what the cowards in Washington refuse to do. I just wonder how you will locate those aliens that don't get arrested for some crime? If you need any assistance or signatures from NH, just let us know. God Bless You!
Dear Sheriff Jones, We were very impressed when we heard of your stand regarding illegal immigration. We hope that many more will take your lead. We will support you in any way possible. (we heard of you on numbersUSA.com) Thank you <Name Withheld> SC
My question to the Butler County Sheriff's department has to do with battered immigrant women and whether or not they will ever feel safe to call the police in Butler County when the police are enforcing immigration law. Will immigrants ever feel safe to report drug activity or violent crimes, to be a cooperative witness in any case if the police are never on their side? I am the adult daughter of a lawful immigrant who came to this country over 30 years ago. These reports are causing the Latinos who are present legally to also live in fear of the police department. The children of these families are often citizens as well--and will one day be voters. But can they use 911 if they have an emergency at home without fear that their parents will be deported? Please think about what is being said and done. There will come a day, much like the days when the Civil Rights act was implemented, when we all will have to account for our actions. Please reconsider yours. Thank you for your time.
Sheriff, Since moving to this state from Arkansas, there has only been a few things that have impressed me. You, sir, are one of those things. You motto tells it all. understand that most of us Americans are not against immigration, just against illegal immigration. It's outside the system and its wrong. It's not a "cultural" issue, its a crimminal one. Thank you for your strong stance. I have spent the last 6 months encouraging and praying for a friend of mine who waited 14 months to LEGALLY bring his new wife into our country. Several times we discussed how much simplier in this day and age it would have been to just walk her across the Canadian or Mexican border, but he wants her to be free in this country. That meant following the rules, being patient and coming here legally. Congratulations sir on a job well done. I currently live in Hamilton County, but I'd be proud to have you as our sheriff.
Kudos to you Sheriff Jones for having the courage to tell the truth and take action. To many people are afraid of addressing these issues for fear of being politically incorrect. I live in Price Hill, restoring a beautiful old home, seems like a waste of time now with the neighborhoods going to hell. Alot of the multi family dwellings have 12 people living to a unit. Keep up the good work, maybe someone here in the city will follow your lead.
Kudos to Sheriff Jones and his staff! As a long time resident (1982) of Butler County, it is great to see our Sheriff's department taking the lead and doing the right thing to uphold our immigration laws! PLEASE keep it up and send the INS the message that we must to inforce the law of the land!. Give me a call if you need any help... <Name withheld>
Hello, I commend you on your stand on the immigration issues. I have been a Police officer for the last 17 years and a former chief as well. I have been keeping up with the issues related to the FtAA, immigration and don't agree with what the Fed. Government is doing. A few months past the Sheriff of Greene County was in the same situation as you. The President of Mexico sent word that if they (the Sheriffs office) didn't cease the arrests and incarceration of the aliens, that the Sheriff's position would be in jeapordy. This was on Nightline on NBC. Also a great source of support and information is WWW.Stop the FTAA.Org, this site has supportive information related to your position. I just wanted to send this, as a letter of encouragement; that there are people locally that are in agreement, that something needs to be done. Sincerly <Name Withheld> Highland County, Ohio
Bravo! It's about time someone showed the political will to battle the crippled and inept bureaucracy of the I.N.S. As the grandfather of two half-mexican boys whose father pays no child support for nor has to worry about the CSEA finding him anywhere, I applaud Sheriff Jones for taking this action. Virtually everyone I've spoke to is equally in favor of this and I hope it catches fire on a nationwide scale. Illegitimi non carborundum!
I would like to applaud Sheriff Jones for taking the appropriate position on illegal immigration. Some view his actions as racial profiling. I do not. It is not about race. It is a matter of enforcing the law and giving fortitude to the entegrity of America and her citizens.
Sheriff Jones, I read an article about the bill you sent to ICE and the other get tough approach to illegal aliens. Sir, we need more elected officials such as yourself to get this country back on course and end this tide, this invasion of illegals. I am sure you will be called a racist, but that is just the reaction of the open borders crowd because they have nothing else to back up their argument. There is not a thing in the world wrong with coming to America for a better life... LEGALLY. Illegal immigration is in my opinion the worst problem facing our country and our citizens today. Far too many politicians turn a blind eye to this and we get the "oh, they're coming for a better life" speech. Sincerely, <Name Withheld> P.S. If you need a change of scenery come to Dalton,Georgia and be the sheriff (PLEASE!)
Keep up the good work Sheriff Jones. I do not live in Butler County, I live in Northern KY but I agree 100% on what you are doing. My husband is Canadian and we have went through the immigration process the legal way. It has cost us a couple of thousand dollars but rules are rules. I just don't understand why illegal immigrants are tolerated. The process is there for a reason. How do these people get jobs, I thought it was illegal to employ an illegal immigrant, why are the employers who hire these people not punished? My husband was not able to get a job until he had a social security number. I agree with what you are doing and I don't understand what the problem is. It is against the law to be here illegally, you are doing your job, to bad so many others are not.
Just want to give "Jonesy" a big ATTA BOY for taking a stand with the 'illegals'. Those of us who have worked hard and lived by the rules are fed up and frustrated with those who have little regard for the law. Your "stand" gives us hope that common sense and fairness will prevail. I'm forwarding this link to others knowing that it will reach an "undertow" of citizens that is vast, and who have been too patient, too silent, too long. This is the first time I have EVER extended my views to anybody in office or otherwise. I feel strongly that what you're doing is fair and hope that you gain momentum as you continue. Thank you, <Name Withheld>
I would like to commend Sheriff Jones for choosing to enforce the laws reguarding immigration. I agree that this is not discrimination against any law abiding hispanics, but upholding the law as it is written. I wish the federal level of law makers would show the "back bone" of the Sheriff and his officers and protect us at the borders as well. Thank you very much!
your way of seeing things makes no sense! really think about it.
Sheriff Jones: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ON THE UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS IN BUTLER COUNTY.. I WORKED AT FORT HAMILTON HOSP. AND SAW THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF TAX DOLLARS BEING SPENT ON THOSE WHO DO NOT PAY TAXES.. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Dear Sheriff Jones, I want to commend you on the stand you have taken on illegal immigration. God Bless You. I had a letter published in the Journal News on October 24, 2005 against illegal immigration, and on October 27 a young woman was parked outside my house waiting for me. She said, "Do you want to buy this? It's to use on your tires." She opened her hand and I saw what I took to be a switch blade of some kind. She then ran to her car and sped away. I didn't think too much about it until on the 28th I had the sense to connect the incident to my letter in the paper. I called the city police and let the officer read my letter to the editor also the letter I had just composed to the Journal Editor explaining what had just happened to me. I sent copies to Mike Fox and Courtney Combs today. Most people don't realize what is happening to our country. You do and thank God for it. Keep up the good work. You have my support. <Name Withheld>
Thank you for standing up to the federal government on the burden of illegal immigration. The idea of billing them 70.00 a day per inmate is brilliant! Please don't buckle under the inevitable whining from the politically correct thought police, either. You have more positive support than negative. Regards, <Name Withheld> www.minutemanproject.com
Thank you, Sheriff Jones, for having the courage to stand up for America and Americans, and to put a stop to the politically correct cowardice that is ruining our country. Taxpayers should not have to support invaders -- especially invading criminals. How I wish for more leaders like you, and how I wish you were the Sheriff in my county! Thank you for doing your part to preserve our country and and freedoms.
To whom this may concern, I applaud your stand on the illegal alien probelm and hope you have a favorable resolution. Thanks for taking a stand.
The nation needs more sheriffs like Richard Jones! If he keeps this up, I'm moving from California to Butler County!
I just wanted to thank Sheriff Richard Jones for all his efforts in trying to deport illegal aliens who are criminals in Butler county jails. I think it's rediculous how much flack he's getting for it when he should be praised for doing the community a much needed service. Quite frankly when they were saying on the news how he wasn't just picking people up on the streets and deporting them, I wish he would because that's why they are called illegal aliens because they are in this country illegally. I hope soon there are laws that ask police officers to pick up illegal immigants up on the streets and deport them because we shouldn't have to pay welfare and everything else for them so thank you.
I just wanted to write and congratulate Sheriff Jones on his tough stance on illegals in his county. I just heard about the bill sent to the federal government for housing of illegals in your jails. Keep up the GOOD FIGHT! hopefully more sheriffs will learn about your tactics and implement similar programs, and cause the Bush administration to address the issue of illegal immigrants with a zero tolerance policy. Sincerely, <Name Withheld> Pittsburgh, PA
I live in Kentucky but saw a news story on you, I moved here from Las Vegas to get away from all of the illegal aliens and I just wanted to say how good it is to see someone in government try to do something to stop this problem.
Sheriff Jones, I want to thank you for your get tough approach to address illegal immigration in Butler County. We need more Sheiffs like you across the country. Please know that we're all behind you. Best of luck and keep up the fight!!
This comment is intended for the greatest Sheriff that I have ever seen. The job you are doing is outstanding. The way you are running your jail is the best. I just wanted you to know that as long as you run for office I will continue to vote for you.
I read with great interest http://www.journal-news.com/news/content/news/stories/2005/10/27/HJN1027INSBILL_S.html What a novel idea! Bill the ICE for keeping the illegal alien housed. I hope the $71k bill for services rendered to criminals you have house due to their performing their jobs sparks some action on the part of our federal government. (physical remove these law breakers to a federal pen while the await their day in court) thank you
I like your attitude to get the illegals out of here. We had a problem with one of these spreading TB at my wife's office. Anything I can to to help, let me know.
Thank God, a sheriff with [guts] who will take a stand against illegal immigration. As a 30 year retired officer and CJ professor (currently)I salute you for taking a stand where others fear to tred for political purposes.
Thank You so much for taking some action on this growing problem. As a business owner working in Butler County in the home improvement area I have lost alot of jobs to the people who are hiring this cheap labor and not paying the taxes, insurance and payroll. Maybe now some legal people can get some work. Thanks again to all of the B.C.S.O.
Sheriff Jones and the Department are doing a great job. I admire them for all their hard work, and the policies and stand they are taking on illegal aliens, and for not making the criminals jail time a vacation. Thanks to all the sheriff's dept.
Sheriff Jones, Thank you, It is great to have a "take action" Sheriff like you. I think putting the jail population to work cleaning up the area is fantastic. I also agree with your stance on illegal immigrants, I don't think you will be doing any "profiling" but I really agree with the stance to deport them if you have to arrest them for any offense at all. The removal of the satellite tv fron the jail was great I mean its jail not the Hilton! You have my support. Thank you, <Name Withheld>
Dear Sheriff Jones: I want to applaud you for your bold efforts to do something about illegal immigration and the terrible toll it is taking on our state, keep up the good work, perhaps this problem will have to be handled at the grass roots level until the federal government and the INS starts enforcing the law of our land and doing their job! Hopefully, Si Leis will follow your example here in Hamilton Co. where the problem is growing along with the crime it brings! God bless you Sir!, <Name Withheld> Hamilton Co Resident
Thank you for your efforts to control illeagle aliens. I hope you at least get the fedreal govts. attention. The terrible situation in France should wake someone up.
I applaud the position you are taking. If you and other counties were to take the illegal aliens you have in detention, put them into vans or buses, drive them to Washington, D.C. and drop them off in front of the Capitol Building, I guarantee Congress will take action very quickly. Do you agree?
I'm originally from the Cincinnati area and after a Law Enforcement career in the Air Force wound up living in Raleigh, NC. I actually plan on moving to the Butler Co. area in late 2007 or 2008. I just want to say that I think the things Sheriff Jones is doing are great. The illegal alien situation here gets worse by the day. I just wish the local law enforcement here would take notice of what Butler Co. is doing. I'm a member of Americans For Legal Immigration and although your story may not be making nationl new, we are following it on our web site and people all across the country are seeing what steps you are taking. Keep up the good work.
Sheriff Jones, as a 30 year North Carolina LEO all I can say is I wish North Carolina had some sheriff's with your intestinal fortitude. Thanks for help stopping this illegal invasion.
To: The Honorable Richard K. Jones Sheriff, Butler County November 7, 2005 Dear Sir: Thank you, thank you, thank you for what is evidentally considered, in this age, your audacious and unprecedented decision to actually enforce the laws of this nation governing undocumented entry, and protect the citizens of your county in accordance with your sworn oath of office! It is thrilling, and it is a tragedy that, instead of being commended, you are now being accused by some of "discrimination" and "prejudice". Never mind that the countries from which these illegal aliens have come (including Mexico) strictly enforce THEIR laws of "proper documentation (and vaccinations)" to enter THEIR countries: if the United States attempts to enforce what are our legal binding statues governing immigration, we are then "prejudice". I don't think you are "prejudice", Sheriff Jones, I think you are right, and I wish to commend you--and your officers and staff--for your brave actions. It takes quite a lot of courage to buck the current climate in this area, and I very much appreciate what you are doing. Sincerely, <Name Withheld> U.S. citizen Irving, TX
I fully support you Sheriff Jones and Mike Fox for actually representing the people of Butler County. I recently moved to Hamilton from the Colerain area. I fully support your efforts in this very challenging task. I highly suggest that you stop by St. Julie Billiart Church this week (11/6) to get the latest bulletin. You will find that the pastor, Rev. Mike Pucke feels that you are grossly misinforming the public about "undocumented" immigrants. If you cannot get a copy, I can keep mine. I have sent the exerpt to Willie Cunningham at 700WLW and also Michelle Malkin, columnist. I would also like to share that while building our house here in Hamilton, I ran across a situation. I was talking to the production supervisor and he jokingly mentioned 12 Mexicans moving behind our house. I joking (I emphasize joking) stated I used to work for INS. When I walked out, all the Hispanics would not even look at me. Before I said that, they all nodded their head acknowledging my presence. I found this interesting. Furthermore, the companies that complain that they cannot get American workers for the jobs that the illegals are doing is nothing but hogwash. Yes the illegals can work $5/hr and fit 25 people to a home, but the American worker cannot work for $5/hour and feed his/her family. Not only that, the actual cost to build a house is not that expensive. Homebuilders CUT corners all the time to increase their profit margins. While they are a business, their excuses for hiring illegals are pretty futile and unacceptable. By the way I am a conservative and registered Republican, but I do not agree with our President and Congress on how they are handling the illegal immigration issue. Thank you for your time. <Name Withheld>
Sheriff Jones, As a tax-paying voter of Butler County I would like to take moment to praise and thank you for your position on undocumented immigrants living in Butler County. They are a financial burden to everyone in the community, and as the term suggests "ILLEGAL alliens". Again, thanks. Sincerely, <Name and address Withheld> Hamilton, Ohio 45011
I agree that illegal aliens are causing a burden on not only individual cities, counties and even States but the entire country. Even in my smaller city in Greene country there is an old school bus load of like 20 illegal aliens that I see around my town. I am glad you are speaking out against illegal immigration and I hope you continue to do so.
