For Immediate Release… March 30, 2011
Cooperative Effort Breaks Up Major Illegal Prescription Operation
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones credits a co-operative effort involving the Butler County Sheriff’s regional Narcotics (BURN) Unit, the Warren County Drug Task Force, Hamilton County D.A.R.T. (Drug Abuse Reduction Task Force), and the Cincinnati Police Department’s Pharmaceutical Division with ending a very elaborate illegal prescription scheme operating throughout Southwestern Ohio. The investigation has been on-going for almost a year, with the above-mentioned agencies joining forces six months ago.
Jason Michael Lee, age 31, of Cavalcade Dr., Harrison, OH, and Shannon Kay Peak, his accomplice, age 25, of Tommy Lee Lane, also in Harrison, have been arrested and are currently being held in the Butler County Jail, both with multiple counts of Illegal Processing of Drug Documents and Possession of Drugs (all felonies).
Investigators claim Lee has used hundreds of different aliases on fake prescriptions passed at multiple pharmacies throughout the area, obtaining thousands of doses of illegal drugs, mostly oxycodone. In mid-March, a search warrant was served at a residence on Millville Avenue in Hamilton where Lee had been temporarily staying with a relative. Investigators seized stacks of special prescription paper and 48 blank prescription forms, some illegal drugs, cash, and various ledgers.
Lee’s use of all the various aliases and almost constant moving about made it difficult to track the operation, but the co-operative effort helped pull the case together. Lee also reportedly used a generic prescription discount card when obtaining the illegal drugs to maximize his profits. Said Sheriff Jones, “Another bad guy, and the poison he distributes, is now off the streets, thanks to all those involved.”
