Sheriff Recognized by Hamilton City Council for Heroic Actions
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones was awarded a “Certificate of Recognition” from Pat Moeller, Mayor of the City of Hamilton, during last night’s Hamilton City Council Meeting. The award was given “…for his quick thinking and heroic efforts in saving a man’s life at the Hamilton YMCA by performing CPR and successfully resuscitating the individual…” This stems from an incident back on Saturday, November 19, 2011, when the Sheriff, at the “Y” for his personal workout, was instrumental in assisting with the administering of CPR on a non-responsive individual in the handball courts at the downtown Hamilton YMCA. The subject was revived by those efforts. The Hamilton Fire Department and Life Squad later arrived and safely transported the individual to Fort Hamilton Hospital. Because of his actions that day, Sheriff Jones has also been nominated for one of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office “Life Saving Awards,” which will be presented at a later date.
