For Immediate Release…. September 30, 2005
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that during a disciplinary interview today, Agent David Blackmon resigned his position as a Deputy Sheriff. Blackmon was issued a citation by the Ohio State Patrol around 1:30 am this morning after a traffic stop along State Route 4 in Fairfield. He is charged with OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence). He was off duty and driving a personal vehicle at the time of the incident.
Blackmon, age 34, of Hamilton, began employment at the Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer in July, 1999. He was made a Deputy in November 2000, and continued in that capacity until today.
Commenting on Blackmon’s resignation, Sheriff Jones stated, “This young man made a very poor choice when he got behind the wheel of that vehicle. Those of us sworn to uphold the law have to abide by the same law. As Sheriff, I can not, and will not, tolerate this type of behavior. I was prepared to terminate him, but his resignation made that option no longer available.”
