For Immediate Release… Date: July 17, 2009
Butler County and State agents make arrests for alcohol sales to teens
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that his officers and Agents from the Ohio Investigative Unit worked together this evening in an attempt to stop retailers from selling alcohol to teenagers. The combined efforts contributed to the arrest (summons) of 3 individuals with 3 citations being issued for violations of Ohio Revised Code: 4301.22- “Rules for sales of beer and intoxicating liquor”. These charges are misdemeanors. All of the businesses targeted were within Butler County with 8 of them being checked and only 3 of those businesses found to have employees in violation.
Businesses where citations were issued:
1. Hamilton Smoke 946 High St Hamilton
2. BP Food Mart 5575 Dixie Hwy Fairfield
3. Wildwood Pub 5877 Ross Rd Fairfield
Sheriff Jones is pleased with the results saying, “Teenagers should not be able to buy alcohol anywhere. These laws were passed for a reason and it’s up to all of us to help keep our kids safe. The past has proven that our community has suffered the loss of too many kids who have been killed from teenagers drinking and driving. We have to send the message that we will not tolerate offenders who sell alcohol to our kids and we will hold them accountable.”
