Fatal Crash in Milford Twp


Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports Deputies and emergency rescue crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 127 near the intersection of State Route 73 north of Sevenmile around 8:30 this morning. Preliminary investigation indicates a northbound minivan may have traveled left of center into the path of a southbound oil tanker-type truck. The driver of the mini van was pronounced dead at the scene. A female child passenger in that vehicle was flown by medical helicopter to Childrens’ Hospital, Cincinnati.

The driver of the tanker truck, Joseph Turry, age 62, of Louisville, KY, was assessed at the scene and appeared to sustain no injury. A passenger in the truck, Mark Pilkengton, age 34, of Lebanon Junction, KY, was transported by Sevenmile Squad to Fort Hamilton Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Identities of the occupants of the mini van are not being released at this time, pending notification to other family. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
