Fatal Crash in Wayne Township, Butler County

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports today at approximately 1830 hours, Deputies along with Wayne Township Squad and Fire and Madison Township Squad and Fire responded to the 3000 block of Middletown Eaton Road in Wayne Township for a two-car crash. Preliminary reports show that a 2006 Nissan Altima driven by an unknown male white driver was driving northbound on Middletown Eaton Road and attempted to pass a vehicle resulting in the driver of the Nissan Altima losing control of his vehicle and being struck by a southbound 2001 Ford Taurus driven by Aaron Lakanen. Both drivers transported to Middletown Regional Hospital. The driver of the Nissan Altima was pronounced dead by Middletown Hospital personnel, the driver of the Ford Taurus was treated and released from the hospital. Due to notification of family members the name of the driver of the Nissan Altima has not been released. This crash is still under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit and the Butler County Coroners Office.
