Update Information to Fatal Crash in Madison Township

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones provides updated information concerning last night’s fatal crash in Madison Township. The deceased has been identified as Darrell E. (“Rocky”) Deem, Jr., age 35, of Creekview Drive in Preble County. Mr. Deem was driving a 2002 Pontiac westbound on Middletown-Eaton Road (near Michael Road) when his vehicle was struck head-on. The preliminary Investigation indicates an east-bound 2004 Chevrolet, driven by Steven T. Cook, age 51, of Mosiman Road, Madison Township, had crossed the centerline, causing the crash. Mr. Cook was transported by Madison Township Squad to the Atrium Hospital in Middletown. Charges have not yet been filed, but initial investigation indicates alcohol may have been a factor. The crash remains under investigation by the Butler County Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigations Unit.
