Sheriff Seeking a Remedy to Address the Illegal Population in Ohio
In a letter dated June 22, 2011, Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones asked Governor Kasich to work with the House of Representatives and to please address, initiate or support legislation that would focus on an end to the influx of illegals. Thereby allowing the United States citizens in the State of Ohio, to reclaim jobs that have been taken from them by the illegal alien population.
Sheriff Jones states, “Any illegal that is here is here illegally, and while they are here, they are taking jobs away from Ohioans. Ohioans who have been hit extremely hard with job losses.”
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reports that Butler County has lost nearly 1,300 jobs in the first six months of this year and about 3,500 since 2009. Butler County’s jobless rate increased in May to 8.7 percent from 8.5 percent in April. Warren County held steady from April at 7.6 percent. Statewide, the rate increased from 8.4 percent in April to 8.5 percent in May.
Sheriff Jones tweeted, “Ohio fast becoming a sanctuary state. Governor does nothing. 15% of states have or started new Immigration laws. Not Ohio.”
