Butler County Sheriff, Richard K. Jones, will be hosting his 5th Sheriff’s Citizens Academy in the Fall of 2011, but this one will come with a twist . . . it will be an afternoon academy. The upcoming academy will meet on Thursdays beginning September 8th and run through October 27th, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Participants of this academy will experience the hustle and bustle of the day’s activities.
Designed to provide a working knowledge and background of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy gives participants the opportunity to explore various aspects of the Sheriff’s responsibilities. Students will be exposed to an overview of the talents, skills, diversity and quality of their Sheriff’s Office through classroom discussions led by staff as well as hands-on activities.
Upon completion, participants will have a greater awareness of the operation of the Sheriff’s Office, establish new relationships with classmates and law enforcement personnel, and be afforded a chance to serve their community as volunteers with the Sheriff’s Office. If this peaks your interest, and you meet the criteria listed below, then the Sheriff’s Office is looking for you!
Participants must . . .
Be a resident or employed in Butler County
Be at least 18 years of age
Have no pending criminal court action or outstanding warrants
Pass a background check
Make a commitment to the 8 week program
The Butler County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy is provided at no cost to the participants, but is limited to 24 students. For further information contact Training Specialist Marian Olivas at 513-645-8362. Applications are available on line at www.butlersheriff.org . |
