A Butler County “Most Wanted” Sex Offender Arrested in California, Now Back Here and Housed in Butler County Jail
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that cooperative efforts by the Sheriff’s Office, the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office, the FBI, and the US Marshal’s Office have resulted in the arrest of Patricia Dye, age 32, in Orick, CA. Dye has been listed on Butler County’s “Most Wanted” poster for a felony indictment of failing to properly register her address as required for a sexually oriented offender. In an unusual case, she was originally convicted and classified as a sex offender in Warren County, OH after her arrest in June, 2010. Dye, then 31, had posed as a teenage boy to pursue a sexual relationship with an underage girl in Franklin, OH.
Dye had originally complied with required address registration when she moved into the Middletown area (in Butler County) last year in December, 2010. However, by late summer, 2011, the Sheriff’s Office had received, and confirmed, information she had fled the area and moved “out west” with her actual where-a-bouts unknown. A local indictment and warrant for her arrest was obtained. Federal authorities were able to locate her in an Orick, CA, motel where she had been living since October, 2011. They took her into custody there, without apparent incident on December 8. She subsequently waived extradition rights, and agreed to be brought back to Ohio to face her felony charge.
Two Sheriff’s Deputies flew to California this week to take custody of Dye. They arrived back here late last night, and Dye is now being housed in the Butler County Jail. “Once again, we have shown that you might run, but cannot hide from the long arm of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Jones. “We will find you and bring you to justice. Good job by everyone involved with capturing this sex offender fugitive.”
