Hanover Twp Accident Results in Fatality

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on 02/17/07 at approximately 0052 hours Deputies were dispatched along with Hanover Twp Fire and EMS to the area of 2481 Millville Ave reference a single vehicle injury accident.
Upon arrival, Deputies located a white vehicle at the base of a tree with extensive damage. The driver was located in the front yard of 2481 Millville Avenue, talking on the phone. The front seat passenger Michael J. Snellgrove Jr. was trapped inside the vehicle, but was eventually freed by mechanical means. The third passenger was ejected from the rear seat and was located face down in the yard. EMS personnel transported the front passenger to Fort Hamilton Hospital for assessment, then to University Hospital by Air Care. The driver was treated at the scene for minor visible injuries by Hanover LS.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was eastbound on Millville Avenue. Vehicle lost control in the curve traveling left of center, then off the right side of the roadway. Vehicle traveled through a yard, striking a large bush and concrete driveway, becoming airborne. Vehicle stuck a large tree in the front yard, which ejected the rear passenger, John Burdette.
John A. Burdette (age 24) of Reily Twp was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering extensive head trauma. This accident remains under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit and the Butler County Coroner’s Office. This section of Millville Avenue was closed for approximately four (4) hours for investigation and clean-up.
