For Immediate Release…. October 16, 2007
Short-term Freedom for Prisoner Who Walked Away From Work Detail
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that a prisoner on “Trusty” work status walked away from his assigned work detail this morning, but was re-captured shortly thereafter at a residence on Hamilton’s West Side. Brandon Chasteen, age 24, listed a Loveland, OH, address when he was booked into the Butler County Jail on October 3, to begin a six month sentence for Failure to Appear on a Passing Bad Checks charge out of Fairfield Municipal Court. He disappeared from a worksite for Community Behavioral Health Housing in Hamilton this morning around 9 am. Sheriff’s Investigators quickly learned of a possible accomplice who transported him away from the work site, and were able to develop information on Chasteen’s where-a-bouts. He was re-captured a few hours later hiding at a residence in the 500 block of Millikin St., Hamilton. Chasteen now faces an additional charge of Escape (felony 5). His accomplice, Tonya Wocher, age 18, of Maineville, OH, has also been arrested and placed in the Butler County Jail on a felony 5 charge of Complicity to Escape.
