Fatal Crash in Ross Township

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Deputies and Ross Township Fire and Life Squad units were dispatched around 8:10 this morning to a crash in the 1400 block of Ross-Millville Road (U.S. Route 27), just south of Millville. Preliminary investigation indicates that Erica Elam, age 28, of Cincinnati, was traveling southbound on U.S. 27 in a 2005 Mazda. It appears she traveled off the right side of the roadway, then back across the centerline and directly into the path of an on-coming, northbound semi tractor and trailer, driven by Jeffrey McKittrick, age 44, of Milan, IN.

The Butler County Coroner’s Office declared Elam deceased at the crash site. McKittrick was transported by Ross Township Squad to Fort Hamilton Hospital. U.S. Route 27 was closed to traffic for several hours for investigative and cleanup purposes. The crash remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigations Unit and the Coroner’s Office.
