Sheriff Wants Ohio to Take Action on Illegal Aliens
Sheriff Richard K. Jones sent a letter today to the leaders of the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate, and included a copy of a recently published article indicating an overwhelming majority of Ohio voters oppose government aid for illegal aliens. In his letter, the Sheriff acknowledges efforts by State Representative Combs and State Senator Cates to get illegal alien legislation issues through their respective branches, but indicates his belief that the Ohio leadership may not have a desire to see that happen. The letter also mentions Sheriff Jones’ contact with F.A.I.R. (Federation for Immigration Reform) with preliminary discussions on F.A.I.R.’s willingness to help initiate a state ballot issue to force Ohio legislators to address these issues.
“The report on this statewide poll indicates what I have been saying for quite some time—the majority of people do not favor the government, and our taxpayer dollars, helping illegal aliens,” said Sheriff Jones. “We want action from our legislators to start dealing with those who are here illegally, and all the problems they cause. If necessary, I think we should demand it with a statewide, grass-roots ballot issue.”
