News For Immediate Release – June 23, 2008

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on June 23, 2008 at approximately 2304 hours, Deputies and members of the Liberty Township Fire Department and Life Squad were dispatched to 6241 Summerville Lane in reference to a male subject that had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, investigation revealed that residents Craig Rode (42) and his step-son Shawn Michael (35) became involved in a verbal argument that turned physical when Mr. Michael stabbed Mr. Rode with his pocket knife in the chest area. The victim’s wife Sharon Rode (53) then called the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Rode was air-cared to The University of Cincinnati Hospital where he remains in stable condition. Mr. Michael was transported to Atrium Hospital for a cut to his right arm. He was subsequently treated and released. Mr. Michael was then arrested for Felonious Assault and Domestic Violence and transported to the Butler County Jail where he currently remains.
