Motor Vehicle Accident in Liberty Township

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that Deputies, Liberty Township Fire Department/E.M.S. responded to Maude Hughes Road, 3/10ths of a mile south of Princeton Road in Liberty Township at approximately 7:54pm in reference to an auto accident. A 2001 Harley Davidson Motorcycle being operated by Walter Oelker age 52 of Westchester, was traveling northbound on Maude Hughes Road. A 2006 Scion coupe was traveling southbound on Maude Hughes Road being operated by Stephen Grove age 20 of Westchester. Preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that the motorcycle was left of center and struck the southbound vehicle. Mr. Oelker was deceased at the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Any information regarding the incident should be directed to the Traffic Investigations Division.
