Sheriff Asks Obama to Address Immigration Issues
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones has renewed his call for the federal government to take action on immigration issues in a letter he has sent to President-Elect Obama. After congratulating the President-Elect on his successful bid for the Presidency of the United States, Sheriff Jones makes reference to the increase in illegal immigration, illegal drugs, and associated violence that has taken place over the last eight years.
Acknowledging that President-Elect Obama will have a number of issues to address as he takes office, the Sheriff asks Obama to consider these particular issues, and is hopeful that all members of Congress can come up with a better policy before conditions get worse. In his letter, the Sheriff states, “We all know that it will take compromises from all sides. When planning policy for these issues, please consider the needs of the front line law enforcement agencies, jails and prison systems.”
