For Immediate Release… Date: July 16, 2009
Sheriff’s Office using Nixle
Sheriff Richard K. Jones announces that the Butler County Sheriff’s Office is now participating in a newly developed Community Information Service known as Nixle. Nixle delivers trustworthy and important neighborhood-level public safety and community event notifications by web, e-mail, and cell phone. The service will be used by the Sheriff’s Office to deliver information such as severe weather alerts, incidents resulting in road closures, press releases, and other emergency information.
The major benefit of Nixle is that the messages can be geographically targeted. This means that in the event of an emergency the Sheriff’s Office can send information to just those users who reside in the effected area.
Nixle is offered at no cost to users or to the Sheriff’s Office. To sign-up, simply visit www.nixle.com.
