Edgewood High School Student Arrested for Bomb Threat on Facebook

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on September 21, 2010, the Sheriff’s Office received information that an Edgewood H.S. student had posted threats of blowing up the school and shooting students on his Facebook page. After gathering evidence from the computer and speaking to the parents of the suspect, Stephen N. White, age 16, was arrested for Inducing Panic, a 2nd Degree Felony, and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Hamilton.

Sheriff Jones states that he is extremely pleased with the coordination efforts between the Edgewood School District Administration, School Resource Officer, and Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit. These serious accusations were addressed immediately, and the threats were defused without incident.
