Sheriff Jones in foxnews.com top ten
Today at Fox News.com, Sheriff Jones discovered that he has been placed on the list of “America’s Top 10 “Toughest” Immigration Sheriffs”.
According to the National Sheriffs' Association, there were 3,083 sheriffs in the United States as of Sept. 1, 2010 and Sheriff Jones appears as number 7 on the Foxnews .com web page.
“FoxNews.com conducted an informal poll of immigration experts, think tanks and law enforcement organizations in an effort to compile a list of the nation's Top 10 "toughest" immigration sheriffs.” And while half of them are from Arizona, the others are found in non-border states.
Sheriff Jones stated that he “has a strong track record for being tough on immigration”. Butler County was one of the first Ohio Sheriffs offices to implement the 287g program in our state. We are also participating in the recently developed “Secure Communities Program” with the Department of Homeland Security. In addition Sheriff Jones is currently seeking a law firm to assist him in suing the Mexican Government to recover local tax dollars being spent on arresting, detaining and housing illegal immigrants in his county jail. Among three other committees he serves on with the National Sheriff’s Association; he is a member of the Immigration and Border Security committee.
I appreciate that Fox News.com recognizes that my local efforts have a national impact on the issue of illegal immigration. Sheriff Jones concluded.
