Infant Nearly Drowns in Bucket of Water in Liberty Township

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that at approximately 11:20 am on Sunday, August 10th, a 1-year-old female fell head first into a container of water and nearly drowned. Riddhi Patel, 33-year-old mother, was at home when her daughter walked into the bathroom by herself. The mother was tending to another child at the time and walked in to observe the infant face down in the container of water. Liberty Township emergency crews along with the Butler County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the 4600 block of Sanibel in Liberty Township for the investigation.

Investigators advised the mother had been in another room for approximately 4 or 5 minutes before she found the infant. The mother called 9-1-1 right away and followed CPR instruction.   The infant was revived but had shallow breathing and was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
