Sheriff Jones Urges Citizens To Pick Safe Areas For Trick Or Treaters

Sheriff Richard K. Jones wants to remind everyone of the importance of maintaining a safe Halloween experience by encouraging citizens to check out the Butler County Sheriff’s Website www.butlersheriff.org.  The website contains valuable information on registered sex offenders and where they live.  You can search for adult offenders registered in Butler County using the state database. The search tool allows you to search by location, name, city, email, phone or internet name.  Parents are urged to log on to the site and check by address or area their children will be trick or treating in.   You also have the ability to register so a notification is sent to you when a registered sex offender moves within one mile of the address you provide.

All sex offenders are required to register with the Sheriff of the county in which they reside within three days of release from prison or moving to a new address. Every time a “Predator” (highest level offender) registers, written notifications are mailed to neighbors, schools and registered day cares within a 1,000 foot radius of the offender’s residence.
