The Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Service (Technical Rescue) and the Regional Swift Water Team train monthly and covers Rope Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, Confined Spaces, Haz-Mat, and Structural Collapse.  The training also incorporates the use of a drone using a low light camera and a Thermal camera for locating victims.  The members of the teams stay current in their training to assist in any emergency that may arise in or out of Butler County. 

In addition, the teams will be training in the use of two side scan sonars that enable the teams to look under the surface of the water to find objects and victims of drownings.  The sonar gives a 3D image of the terrain under the surface even in fast moving and zero visibility water. “We’ve been called on in the past to help victims in Hurricane Katrina, riot situations and various incidents in the county.  It is nice having the equipment and trained personnel to help those in need,” said Sheriff Jones.

Friday, October 12^th, the Emergency Response and Swift Water Teams will be at Hueston Woods for swift water rescue training.
