Jones reports that at approximately 2:30 PM this afternoon, students at New Miami High School reported that a male subject made threats to shoot up the school via social media. The school was immediately placed on lockdown.

Deputies and Detectives responded to the school and upon further investigation, it was discovered that there was a concerning photo sent directly to the two students through social media. There was no threat made toward the school.  New Miami initiated a controlled release of students as a precaution and for their protection. “We take these situations very serious. The school did a great job and everyone acted quickly.  The most important thing is that all those kids are safe and got home to their families,” said Sheriff Jones

Detectives are currently following up on this investigation. Names of students or the suspect will not be released at this time.
