Drive-By Shooting Results In Arrests

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that yesterday at approximately 7 PM, several rounds were fired into a residence at 81 Woodrow Street, St. Clair Township in a drive by shooting. Prior to this shooting, New Miami Police had a similar incident at 131 Howman Avenue. It was believed the incidents are related. There were no injuries in either incident.

Today, detectives have charged Johnathan Lovins, 28 year old male from Hamilton for improper discharging a firearm into a habitat, a 2nd degree felony. Eren Binkley, 28 year old male was arrested on an outstanding warrant for parole violation.

During the investigation, an anonymous tip came in that led to the home of a juvenile who had possession of an AK 47 assault rifle.  The 15 year old student of Hamilton City Schools is associated with the above subjects however; investigators do not believe the juvenile is involved in incidents.  “We are lucky that no one suffered injuries in either incident and these guys are off the street.  The detectives worked non-stop on this case to get it solved,” said Sheriff Jones. The juvenile has not been charged at this time.
