There’s A New She “RUFF” In Town

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports we have a new K-9 at the Edgewood City School District. She’s a 13 week old Labrador Retriever named Carmen. Carmen’s handler is School Resource Officer Darian Bookman, and SRO Bookman is training Carmen to sniff out gunpowder and narcotics. Carmen started today and is getting acclimated with the students and environment. Carmen is the first K-9 ever implemented at the Edgewood City School District and one of the few used by a School Resource Officer in the TriState area. It’s a continued team effort between the Edgewood City School District and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office to protect the students. Russ Fussnecker, Edgewood City School Superintendent stated, “Safety is our top priority and this effort is yet another way we are working to keep our students and staff safe.”

“We have a great working relationship with Edgewood City Schools and we work together on a daily basis to make sure our kids have a safe, productive environment to learn and reach their best potential for their future,” states Sheriff Jones
