Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports July 08, 2019 at approximately 1900hrs Hamilton Police Department put out a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) for a suspect vehicle involved in a homicide in the city. Vehicle description was given advising suspect Mathew Ferris had fled the scene prior to Hamilton P.D.’s arrival.

Deputy Mike Gibson observed the suspect vehicle matching the description given, near the Hamilton Christian Center in Hanover Twp. Deputy Gibson activated his emergency lights and sirens where a pursuit ensued reaching a high rate of speed coming to a stop in the 1400 block of Boyle Rd. Deputy Gibson approached the supspect vehicle, he observed the suspect raise what he believed to be a weapon and heard a gunshot. Victim Found In Great Miami River Identified

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports the body of 35 year old Nathan Durbin of Fairfield was discovered in the water by a man walking to work on Black Street Bridge at 0715 this morning. Durbin’s body was located on the west side of the Great Miami River just north of the Black St. Bridge. Upon calling 911 Hamilton Fire Dept. along with the Butler County Sheriff’s office and Hamilton Police arrived on scene.  The Hamilton Fire Department attempted a rescue but Durbin was deceased upon arrival. Although nothing appears suspicious, there is an ongoing investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Cause of death is pending upon the Coroner’s report.

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that yesterday at approximately 7 PM, several rounds were fired into a residence at 81 Woodrow Street, St. Clair Township in a drive by shooting. Prior to this shooting, New Miami Police had a similar incident at 131 Howman Avenue. It was believed the incidents are related. There were no injuries in either incident.

Today, detectives have charged Johnathan Lovins, 28 year old male from Hamilton for improper discharging a firearm into a habitat, a 2nd degree felony. Eren Binkley, 28 year old male was arrested on an outstanding warrant for parole violation.
