The victim is expected to recover from her injuries.  The exact breed of the dog is not known at this time.

Retail Business Tips Lead To Drug Charges

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that for the past few months, deputies and undercover agents with B.U.R.N. (Butler County Under Cover Regional Narcotics) Taskforce have personally visited several retail businesses.  The idea is to educate them on indicators of purchases for the use of illegal drug manufacturing.  “We have basically taught these businesses some things to look for and to contact us if they witness certain items being bought together or items that raise a red flag that could be used to make illegal drugs,” said Sgt. Mike Hackney. Today, that type of information led to the arrest of two people.

Christopher Scott Abrams, 38 year old male from Hamilton, was charged with drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor of the 2nd degree.  Samuel Garnett, 50 year old male, was charged with illegal assembly of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs, a felony of the 3rd degree.  “Basically, one of our businesses called us and reported the same vehicle, same two occupants purchasing the same items a few days in a row, items you have to sign for from the pharmacy to purchase.  An investigation was conducted and both men admitted they bought the items to manufacture methamphetamine.  They had the main ingredients but we got them before they started making the recipe.  These are the low hanging fruit that need to be picked off the tree and we intend to continue to do just that,” said Sheriff Jones.

Two Charged In Water Rescue Incident

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones is very upset that several first responders were placed in harm’s way due to the reckless acts of two men.  At approximately 11:55 AM, the Butler County Regional Water Rescue Team and St. Clair Township emergency crews responded to the area of 2650 Hamilton Eaton Road where two men were trapped on a small land area in the middle of the creek that runs between Seven Mile and New Miami.  Jeffrey Marcum, 27 year old male, and Christopher Marcum, 22 year old male, were in separate kayaks in the river when they lost control due to extremely heavy currents and had to swim to safety.  One of them had a phone and called a family member, who then called the Sheriff’s Office.

The event caused for the use of the Butler County Sheriff’s helicopter and Air Care. Several deputies were on foot, physically walking the bank line to locate and save the subjects. One subject was transported by Saint Clair Township emergency crews and the other by Air Care for minor injuries.  A boat could not get to the subjects so the Butler County Sheriff’s helicopter had to land in an unstable, hazardous area to relocate the subjects so they could be assessed for injuries.

“This is absolutely ridiculous.  The current in that river could have cost several lives to try to rescue two people that should have known better.  I am all for rescuing those in need; that is why I have all these resources.  I do not like putting my own people or anyone else in danger when something like this could have been prevented.  Every year I make statements, I put out statistics and I get with media to get the message out that the water is dangerous.  We knock on too many doors of families to tell them we pulled their loved one from the water and they did not survive,” said Sheriff Jones.  He went on to advise that with the amount of rain coupled with high water and extreme current, this is always a recipe for disaster.  If our pilots were not exceptional, this would have been a tragedy, not a rescue.”

Sheriff Jones Against Idea Of No Training To Carry A Firearm

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones is adamantly against House Bill 147.  The proposal calls for doing away with the state’s current licensing procedure and would allow anyone who is 21 years of age and older to carry a concealed firearm with no training.  “This is an absolute no-brainer to me.  You are talking about a weapon that can and does take the lives of people every single day.  With all the controversy over guns, Representative Wes Retherford now thinks it’s a good idea just to say, “Oh you’re 21? Well here, have a gun and oh, don’t accidently kill yourself or someone else.” This is quite possibly the most absurd idea I have heard in my tenure as Sheriff.”  The Sheriff added that the current conceal carry programs are working.

For your own donssite.com levitra generic cialis safety and for the satisfaction of your loved ones is suffering from schizophrenia then do not take it lightly. This is a very bad approach cialis overnight shipping and where your health manhood is concerned, you should be very careful. “I have had people who were skeptical about getting their licenses because they wanted to be completely comfortable handling a gun first.  We get calls daily about the CCW classes and the biggest question is, “Will I know how to use it properly?”  “I am appalled that our State Representative Wes Retherford supports this.  Our deputies go through specialized training to carry a can of mace or baton, which they have to pass or they cannot carry or use it but we are going to let un-trained people carry concealed guns?”  Currently, the state of Ohio is an open-carry state, which means, if an individual is legally authorized to own a weapon, and that weapon is not banned under state or federal law, they can carry it in the open, unconcealed manner.  Sheriff Jones questions, who is going to be there in the time of tragedy when someone harms or kills themselves, it won’t be State Representative Wes Retherford who also supports the Cannabis-oil Bill.

The Sheriff fully supports the constitution which allows any American Citizen the right to bear arms but all he is asking is that common sense comes into play when dancing around a fire.  “In conjunction with firearms training, State Representative Wes Retherford could use a little training in common sense,” said the Sheriff.

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that around 7:30 PM yesterday, citizen complaints and anonymous tips led undercover agents to 220 North D Street in the City of Hamilton where a large marijuana grow operation was being processed.  A search warrant was jointly executed by agents of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Hamilton Police Department.  There were approximately 63 plants and 2 loaded handguns confiscated from the home. James W. Gordley, a 45 year old male, was charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana and trafficking in drugs; both charges are felonies of the 4th degree.

Sheriff Jones Assigns New K9 Deputynews-release

Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones is pleased to announce that there is a “new dog” in town.  He is welcoming Deputy Kaiser, a new K-9 officer to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.  Deputy Kaiser is a 3 year old Belgian Malinois and will be assigned to his handler, Deputy Daron Rhoads.  Deputy Rhoads’ previous partner, K9 Deputy Falco, was euthanized in December of 2014 due to numerous medical conditions that would have caused a poor quality of life had that decision not been made.

K9 Deputy Kaiser will be trained in narcotics detection, tracking and apprehension of individuals.  The K9 handlers train with their partners at least once a month to keep them fresh in their skills.  “These animals are not just dogs to these deputies, they are family and we are pleased to have this great addition.  These guys work very hard and put themselves on the line every day.  They go into areas and places that deputies can’t. They can be trained to find drugs and in some cases, missing or deceased people, so they are a huge benefit to our agency,” said Sheriff Jones.

K9 Kaiser was purchased by Dr. and Mrs. Caesar DePaco, founder and CEO of Summit Nutritionals International Incorporated, and Mike Blakley, President of Independent Sheet Metal, LLC.  “We are deeply indebted to these generous people, this is certainly a gift that gives back to the community and is very appreciated,” said the Sheriff.
