Body Found Near River By Hunters

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at approximately 12:24 PM Deputies were called for a report of a dead body by the river near Old Oxford State Road in Lemon Township. Upon their arrival, Deputies discovered a deceased male with a gunshot wound to the head. Due to the difficult terrain and muddy conditions where the body was located, Deputies requested the help of the ERS (Emergency Response Services) team and their side by side utility vehicle.  ERS responded to the scene and assisted investigators.

The incident is currently being investigated by Detectives. The gunshot wound appears to be self-inflicted, and no foul play is suspected at this time.  The victim has been identified as a 44-year-old male, his name is being withheld until family can be notified.
