Butler County Sheriff’s Office Coordinates with Federal Agencies to Arrest Undocumented Suspects
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on June 19, 2025, at approximately 1:00 PM, a concerned mother approached Butler County Sheriff’s Office detectives in the agency parking lot. She reported that her adult daughter was in an abusive relationship and had recently been cut with a knife during a domestic incident.
Sheriff Jones ordered an immediate investigation, which revealed the suspect was believed to be in the U.S. illegally and working with a group of undocumented individuals.
Due to jurisdictional limitations, the Sheriff’s Office coordinated with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for support. A traffic stop was conducted by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on a van associated with the suspect on West Chester Road in West Chester Township. Four males were inside.
Three adult males — including the alleged suspect — were confirmed to be unlawfully present in the U.S. and taken into ICE custody without incident. A fourth occupant, a juvenile involved in immigration proceedings, was released to a legal sponsor.
Taken into custody:
• Carlos Augstin-Vicente, age 29, Buckeye Street, Hamilton
• Alejandro Augstin-Vicente, age 24, Park Avenue, Hamilton
• Gaspar Augstin-Puentes, age 49, Park Avenue, Hamilton
All three are nationals of Guatemala.
