Butler County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Services Unit (ERS) on High Alert Ahead of Severe Weather Threat
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that while the early morning hours did not bring the anticipated weather event, a renewed and significant threat is developing and expected to impact the region later today. The Butler County Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Services (ERS) Unit is actively monitoring the situation and remains fully prepared to respond.
According to meteorological assessments from the Butler County Sheriff's Office, a strong and fast-moving weather front is forecasted to move through the area between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., posing a risk of severe weather, including:
• Large hail ranging from 1 to 3 inches in diameter,
• Damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, and
• Isolated tornadoes.
In preparation for potential impacts, the ERS Unit is fully staffed and ready to deploy at a moment’s notice. The Butler County Emergency Operations Center is on standby and will be activated if conditions warrant coordinated emergency response efforts.
Sheriff Jones emphasized the seriousness of the situation and urged all residents to take appropriate precautions:
“This is a developing and potentially dangerous weather event. Residents must remain alert, have a plan in place, and be ready to act quickly. Ensure you have flashlights with working batteries, bottled water, essential medications, and non-perishable food on hand. Monitor official sources for updates and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued,” states Sheriff Jones.
The Butler County Sheriff's Office will continue to provide real-time updates.
