Deputies Conduct Address Verifications on Registered Sex Offenders
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones continues to take a proactive approach when it comes to monitoring registered sex offenders in the community. While routine checks are conducted throughout the year, the Sheriff organizes an annual, large-scale address verification operation to ensure compliance and community safety.
This year, eight (8) teams consisting of two deputies each were deployed for a full-day operation focused on verifying the addresses of registered sex offenders throughout Butler County. There are currently 524 registered sex offenders in the county. Multiple addresses were checked during the operation, those not verified, will be investigated by the Sheriff’s SORN (Sex Offender Registration and Notification) Division.
“This operation is vital in keeping our community safe by ensuring we know where registered sex offenders reside,” said Sheriff Jones. “If sex offenders are not complying with court orders, they will go to jail—no questions asked.”
Before the address verification began, Sheriff Jones conducted uniform and equipment inspections to ensure a professional and operational standard among all participating deputies and corrections officers. As part of the Sheriff’s paramilitary approach, uniformed personnel are expected to maintain a clean, professional appearance, with polished boots and fully functional equipment. Patrol vehicles also underwent inspection to ensure all gear was operational and up to date.
“We want to maintain a professional image,” Sheriff Jones added. “If we can’t respect ourselves, how can we expect others to respect us?”
Residents are encouraged to stay informed. You can view registered sex offenders in your area and sign up for notifications by visiting the SORN section at www.butlersheriff.org. For additional information, please contact Deputy Spencer at 513-785-1277 or Deputy Kuderer at 513-785-1246
