Emergency Response Services (ERS) Unit Remains Vigilant With Possible Flash Flooding
For Immediate Release
April 03, 2025
EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES (ERS) UNIT REMAIN VIGILANT WITH POSSIBLE FLASH FLOODING PREDICTED OVER NEXT FEW DAYS
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports Butler County Sheriff’s Office Meteorologists are keeping an eye on the weather. With data provided from the National Weather Service, moisture-laden air moving through the tri-state over the next few days calls for multiple rounds of rain fall with up to five or more inches forecasted. This could result in flash flooding in low lying areas.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Services Unit (ERS), with an increased concern for the upcoming heavy rainfall are urging caution, citing even walking into or near shallow flood currents can be deadly. Drivers are reminded that half of flood-related drownings occur when vehicles drive into hazardous flood water.
ERS team members are highly trained and equipped with multiple boats such as Jon boats and inflatable rescue boats to assist in rescue for high water situations. Also, lifesaving apparatuses, to include technical rescue trucks, are furnished with an expansive inventory of equipment to help facilitate rescue missions during a flooding event.
“Our meteorologists will stay on top of this weather event with our ERS Unit on a stand-by status dependent on dangerous flooding over the next few days,” states Sheriff Jones.
