Fatal Crash Claims Life Of Teen Driver In Liberty Township
Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports on Tuesday May 14, 2025 at 1145 hours the Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (S.T.A.R.T.) responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Maude Hughes Road, just south of Kyles Station Road in Liberty Township.
Preliminary findings indicate that a gray Honda Civic, operated by a 17-year-old male driver, was traveling northbound when it crossed left of center for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a white 2021 Ford Transit van traveling southbound.
The teenage driver of the Honda Civic sustained critical injuries and was transported by ground to UC West Chester Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The driver of the Transit van was also transported to UC West Chester and is being treated for minor injuries.
"This is an unimaginable tragedy," stated Sheriff Jones. "The loss of a young life is something no family should ever have to endure. Our hearts are with the family as they navigate this devastating loss."
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the S.T.A.R.T. team. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
