Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports that on 05/15/2024 at 1416 hours, a 15 year old Lakota East Freshman student was leaving the Lakota East Freshman building and walking towards the Lakota East High School. The student was in the cross walk on Bethany Road when they were struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The student was transported by life squad to University of Cincinnati West Chester Hospital with serious injuries. 

The Butler County S.T.A.R.T. (serious traffic accident reconstruction team) is investigating the crash. The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
