MULTI-AGENCY NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN SEIZURE OF FENTANYL, CASH, AND FIREARM
Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones announced today that a coordinated narcotics investigation conducted by the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force (B.U.R.N.), in partnership with the Hamilton Police Department, has resulted in the arrest of Alex Montgomery, 35, of Cincinnati, and the seizure of fentanyl, U.S. currency, and a firearm.
During the course of the investigation, agents recovered more than one ounce of fentanyl and approximately $1,400 in cash. Following Montgomery’s arrest, members of the Hamilton County Regional Enforcement Narcotics Unit (RENU) executed a court-authorized search warrant at a residence located in the 1200 block of Thurnridge Avenue in Cincinnati. The search resulted in the recovery of a Glock handgun and an additional ounce of fentanyl.
Montgomery has been charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of Drugs (Felony 1)
• Tampering With Evidence (Felony 3)
• Capias Warrant issued by the Butler County Common Pleas Court in connection with a prior drug-related case
Sheriff Jones emphasized the importance of interagency partnerships in disrupting the flow of illegal narcotics into local communities:
“The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is committed to working with our law enforcement partners at every level to take dangerous drugs and firearms off the streets. Protecting our communities has no county boundaries, and these joint operations send a clear message to those who traffic in poison.”
