Multi-Jurisdictional Pursuit Ending With Suspect Arrest And Felony Charges

MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL PURSUIT ENDING WITH SUSPECT ARREST AND FELONY CHARGES 


Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports on January 11, 2025 at 1247hrs. the Ohio State Highway Patrol began a pursuit of a stolen semi out of Indiana. The pursuit entered the city of Middletown. Middletown patrol officers began pursuing to assist OSP. At one point during the pursuit Trenton Police Department became involved. The suspect driving the stolen semi, attempted to thwart the pursuit by throwing hammers and a variety of tools out his window to strike the pursing units. The pursuit entered Preble County before re-entering Butler County. Butler County patrol units began pursuing the semi on State Route 127 southbound. 

Tire deflation devices (stop sticks) were deployed to slow the semi down. The stop sticks took effect with the stolen semi running off the road at the third street extension just north of Black Street in the city of Hamilton. The pursuit lasted approximately an hour and a half. 


Arrested was thirty-seven (37) year old Joseph Allen Horton who is reported not to have a current address. Horton is charged with Failure to Comply (F3) and Receiving Stolen Property (F4). 

This is an on-going investigation with multiple jurisdictions. More charges are pending. 


“It’s a crazy world we’re living in. Our law enforcement, no matter what agency, never waivers in making our communities safe,” states Sheriff Jones.
